Before I tell you the answer to this question, let me quickly explain that this section of my blog is actually called “What did I see on my run?” (this is a running blog, after all!) but given my recent stupid hamstring aches and pains, walking is as good as it gets :)
So, yes, what did I see on my walk?
I’m in Mussoorie in the Himalayas, and went for a s-l-o-w walk this morning near the Company Gardens, where there were langurs everywhere. Dozens of them.
Mussoorie is plagued by Rhesus macaques, that are, quote frankly, a menace. They can be aggressive and are very destructive, and one knows not to make eye contact with them. Traditionally in India, langurs are used to scare away macaques – which is a whole other topic, namely should an animal be taken from its habitat etc etc, but we’ll leave that for another day.
My langurs yesterday included loads of adorable babies, tumbling around and falling off branches, and generally being a delight.
I kept my distance, obviously.
But aren’t they cute?
