What did I see on my walk this morning? Fallen trees galore

Lats night Delhi had the mother of all storms. Sudden, violent and for those poor souls who were killed by falling poles, ulimately tragic.

Crazy winds, hailstones and then rain.

Once we’d battened down the hatches (we have a broken window in the stairwell, so that was a bit hairy…) my thoughts selfishly turned to this morning, wondering if the temperature would’ve dropped from the day’s “real feel” of 50C (YES!!!!) and whether it would be a pleasant morning.

The answer?

Yes, the temperature had dropped quite a bit, but the flipside was the number of fallen trees and branches in Nehru Park, which I’ve filmed for you (below).

Hats off to the crew from the PWD and the malis (gardeners) who were hard at work at 6.30am tidying up.

They had already sawn the fallen trees into logs and by the end of my walk, the park was almost as good as new.

So yes, a bit cooler, but at a sad price. Fallen trees always make me sad.
