My friend Mukul Oberoi shared some fab photos from Goa, where he has been running on the beach, lucky, lucky fella.
Mukul is making a come-back after a few non-running weeks, and I suspect every other getting-back-into-shape-after-a-break runner knows exactly what Mukul is going through.
I know I certainly do 😛 😛
Here you go.
I give you Mukul in his own words:
“Today I was feeling good and as clichéd as it may be, beauty does lie in the eye of the beholder.
On the 4th of May I got my 1st Vaccine jab and the next 3 days were full of discomfort, hence there was no running. After that I read somewhere (or I imagined reading it) that one must rest for a few days after a jab, so I did, a few too many…ended up in a month without running.
Not sure about other runners but for me if I have rested for over 36 hours, I need to start from scratch. So finally I restarted from scratch and the first couple of weeks of this scratchy getting back to running period for me is a tough, tough phase…well, the good part is that I fought it though and today was that day when I reemerged from the cocoon and spread my wings once again.
Oh that feeling to be able to run again, it wasn’t fast or anything, it was free, it was fun, it was alive.
Now that I felt good, the scene around me reflected the same…wow, the sky does look good, the sea, the sand, the trees…life is good, I thought to myself.”
And just took at these envy-making photos 🙂
Well done, my friend, on getting back to running, and with these gorgeous flat, empty beaches to run on, it must be such a joy.
